I replaced failed capacitors where accessible, restored power where I could by resetting a tripped breaker, and disconnected the thermostat wire controlling the reversing valve so they would have cooling but not heat until further diagnosis. I noted the bad disconnect and failed compressor for replacement and recommended coil cleaning on dusty coils.
